Community
Network Information Features
- Our
network is a community network. It is shared and used by subscribing
members of the community.
- The
login screen is customizable to the specific community where the network
is installed.
- A
basic web-site related to the community can be hosted by WiFi-Texas,
we can assist in the setup of information pages and newsgroups for members
of the community.
- Trial
- once your community is set up, we can arrange for a week-long trial
for a limited number of residents.
- Only
one simultaneous login per account allowed - sub-accounts
(separate username/password) for
people residing in the same unit
are available on request.
- The
network can be deployed as wired or wireless or both. The network
supports PCs, MACs, Desktops and Laptops, and network appliances that
use TCP/IP for exchanging information.

Intranets
(Wired or Wireless)
-
Intranets
allow you to have a private network inside your condo.
-
For buildings
with wired access, you simply connect a cable/DSL router and connect
your equipment to that router.
-
For buildings
with wireless access, you first need to purchase a WET-11 (see our hardware
page) and use that to connect to your router.
Personal
Wireless networks
-
If you
operate a 802.11b or g network in your condo, consider letting us help
configure that device for the best reception of your own signal and least
interference with you neighbors. We have the experience and
tools to deploy the most reliable network possible.
Security
-
All locations
operate behind a firewall - so your computers are protected from attacks
outside the building.
-
Wired
buildings use Ethernet switches to isolate your computer from traffic monitoring
from others in the community.
-
For complete
security over wired and wireless networks, regardless of SBC, RR, and especially
at public internet places either wired or wireless, we strongly recommend
a VPN.
-
VPN connections
will work over the wireless network.
-
Our own
VPN and WPA services will be coming soon. Watch this space.

Guarantee
-

refund you your subscription fee if you are unhappy with our services,
prorated for the number of days the service was used. Full refund can be request for hardware purchased from WiFi-Texas within 14 days of receipt of product.
Miscellaneous
-
We discourage
the use of peer 2 peer networks. These services are not only heavy
bandwidth users and not in the spirit of community networking (by "hogging"
service away from others in the community), some of them may even have questionable
legitimacy based on emerging laws. If you wish to use P2P networks,
please continue to use your existing broadband provider.
-
Save money
on long distance calling - Use VOIP (voice over IP). Suggested phones
